Playing for the New York Yankees is not a piece of cake: it requires patience and some inner strength to ignore the constant critics and comments from fans and media.

It doesn’t make any sense that playing at home in Yankee Stadium might feel like an away game in some cases with the hostile environment some fans create.

Failing is not allowed in New York, because people will boo, call players names, and even mess with their families.

New York Fans Are Not Easy To Please

Yes: it makes little sense to boo a player who they were rooting for and applauding just a week-and-a-half ago.

Judge had the whole city buzzing following his home run record chase: he eventually hit homer number 62 of the season to become the record-holder in franchise history.

Then the playoffs came, Judge struggled (against some of the best pitching in the world) and in a matter of days, the same people who were cheering for him were now booing him at his home.

Yes, he had a disappointing .490 OPS in the postseason with 15 strikeouts in nine games, but he wasn’t the only one who struggled.

It should definitely feel weird for him to consider a long-term contract offer in New York to play in front of the fans that booed him after a week-long slump in the postseason, but here we are: despite other teams having a chance, Judge is likely to re-sign with the Yankees.
