Yankees Analyst Puts Down Claims Of Game 5 Conspiracy
The New York Yankees and Cleveland Guardians are moments away from taking the field at Yankee Stadium for Game 5 of the ALDS.
The game was originally scheduled for last night, but was postponed due to rain in the New York City area.
The rainout also allowed the Yankees and Guardians to alter their pitching plans slightly, as the Yankees tapped Nestor Cortes to start today.
But many fans are claiming that the postponement of Game 5 last night was all a conspiracy.
Yankees TV announcer Michael Kay responded to these claims on Twitter, saying that the Yankees and Guardians had nothing to do with MLB’s decision to postpone the game, and that all postseason games are in the hands of the commissioner’s office.
Can I please make one thing clear about the rainout last night? The @Yankees and the @CleGuardians had NOTHING to do with the decision. All playoff games are in the hands of @MLB . There is no secret cabal where teams decide to postpone a post season game for their advantage.

Kay Puts Down Conspiracy Rumors
With postseason games being in the hands of the commissioner’s office, any rumors about a potential conspiracy are essentially dispelled.
The weather ultimately became a factor last night, and that was completely beyond MLB’s control.
Some fans may still want to speculate, however.
In the case of the Guardians, it allowed Shane Bieber to be available on three days rest to potentially start Game 5.
Manager Terry Francona ultimately decided to stick with Aaron Civale for the deciding game of the series, but it’s understandable that some fans might be a little bit skeptical about this.
Still, the forecast changed last night just as the two teams were preparing to take the field.
That was completely beyond MLB’s control.
They were fully prepared to give both teams the green light to play Game 5.
Ultimately though, the rain persisted and caused the game to be pushed back until today.
We’ll see how it affects both sides.
