When children are diagnosed with severe illnesses, sadness and despair take over for everybody involved.

You never want to see a child deal with something so severe so early in their lives.

It’s always a sad story.

But here’s a story today that will put a smile on everybody’s face.

In Chicago, there was a child who was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, a type of cancer that tends to affect the kidneys.

It is most common in young children.

However, the Chicago White Sox provided this young fan with a moment he will never forget when he was given the opportunity to run the bases at Guaranteed Rate Field.

The tweet below features a video of this moment and shows both the White Sox and the Baltimore Orioles standing on the sidelines and giving him high fives as he ran around the bases.

Baseball Is Wholesome

This is a nice, touching moment.

Again, dealing with this sort of illness at a young age can be deflating, but the White Sox were nice enough to let him have a great moment at the ballpark and give him a chance to be cheered on by the fans and supported by both teams.

This is the wholesome content that we live to see.

Aside from the constant grind of the competition, sports can be filled with heartwarming moments, and this moment is certainly one of those moments.

The boy got to dress up in full White Sox attire and actually step on the field at Guaranteed Rate Field as the crowd and both ballclubs cheered him on.

Baseball truly is beautiful and it’s great to see this young fan have a moment he’ll never forget.
