Video Shows Kenny Pickett Looking Ready For The Season
It isn’t hard to understand why the Pittsburgh Steelers selected quarterback Kenny Pickett in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft.
Their reasons are not limited to him playing in their backyard for the Pittsburgh Panthers.
Pickett had a blistering 2021 season in Pittsburgh, finishing with 4,319 yards and 43 touchdowns.
Those numbers helped him become the ACC Player of the Year, ACC Offensive Player of the Year, and a First-Team All-American.
The New Jersey native also won the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award which is given to the nation’s top upperclassman quarterback.
Despite being maligned for his hand size, the Steelers feel that he is the best quarterback in the 2022 draft class.
For that, they made him the 20th overall selection and signed him to a four-year, $14 million rookie deal.
He might have been the last first-rounder to sign his rookie deal but this short clip shows that he is ready for action.

The short clip shows Pickett running a play-action sequence before hitting the receiver.
He showed smooth mechanics throughout the clip, which is something Steelers fans could cheer for.
However, the bigger challenge for him is if he can replicate the same mechanics and result when defensive linemen are trying to sack him.
Likewise, his receivers will be covered, giving him a small window to complete a perfect throw.
Will Pickett Start For The Steelers?
He will need a very convincing training camp to get the starting role over Mitchell Trubisky.
Otherwise, it’s somewhat obvious that the Steelers will be going with Trubisky.
After all, why give a former starter a two-year contract if you won’t assess what you’ve got in him?
Therefore, Trubisky will have an opportunity to lead the Steelers offense that has Najee Harris, Diontae Johnson, and Chase Claypool.
He must make it work if he doesn’t want to lose his job to Pickett.
