Video Hypes Up Dusty Baker As His Quest Continues
Houston Astros manager Dusty Baker has had a Hall-of-Fame career up to this point.
He is one of just 12 managers in the history of the game with 2,000 or more wins (he has 2,093) and actually has a positive record, with a .539 winning percentage.
He hasn’t won a World Series as a manager, though (he did win one as a player with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 1981), so some people tend to fixate on that even though it’s not really something that will keep him out of the Hall of Fame.
It would still be an incredible achievement, though, so here he is, trying to add it to his resume, one more time.
After losing last year’s Fall Classic against the Atlanta Braves, he vowed his Astros would return, and here they are.
MLB Network posted a hype video in which Baker and the Astros are featured.

An Incredible Hype Video
It shows some of Houston’s failures since 2017, when they last won the World Series.
They fell against the Boston Red Sox in 2018, in the Championship Series, then against the Washington Nationals in the 2019 World Series.
Then, they lost to the Tampa Bay Rays in the 2020 ALCS, and dropped last year’s Fall Classic against Atlanta.
At the same time, the video showed some of Baker’s toughest moments as a manager, when he lost the World Series with the San Francisco Giants in 2002 and the Championship Series while leading the Chicago Cubs a year later.
Near the end of the video, however, highlights of the Astros’ 2022 campaign started to appear: Yordan Alvarez‘s walk-off blast against the Mariners, Jeremy Pena‘s performance against the Yankees, and more.
It’s a reminder that this time’s competitive fire is still there, strongest than ever.
They are ready to give Dusty his first World Series win.
