Tyler Anderson Expresses Faith In The Angels

The Los Angeles Angels made one of the first major moves of the free agent period in MLB, securing the services of left-handed pitcher Tyler Anderson.

His excellent 2022 season with the Los Angeles Dodgers earned him a three-year, $40 million contract with the Angels, who are continually looking for pitching.

Anderson had an incredible season with the Dodgers, pitching 178.2 innings of a 2.57 ERA and a 3.31 Fielding Independent Pitching, or FIP.

Anderson was a savior for the Dodgers because they had all kinds of problems with their rotation depth this year, due to injuries and suspensions.

He is currently 32, and had never pitched as well as he did with the Dodgers in 2022.

He has been closer to 4.50 than to 2.50 over the course of his career, but the Dodgers gave him the recipe for success and he took advantage.

The Angels And Anderson Are Showing Mutual Confidence

The Angels, despite his age (he will be 33 on Opening Day 2023), are showing confidence in his abilities by giving him $40 million over three seasons.

The pitcher is also showing faith in what the Angels are trying to achieve.

“Tyler Anderson said he had other offers for three years, but it would have required him waiting beyond the QO deadline to sign. Said he thinks the Angels ‘are gonna be really good. We’ve got a lot of good players on this team,’” Angels insider Sam Blum tweeted.

He is joining a rotation that has Shohei Ohtani as the ace, and now himself as an established number two.

Jose Suarez, Patrick Sandoval, and Reid Detmers should complete the rotation.

An additional impact pitcher and a couple of extra hitters, and this Angels team could be good enough to compete for a spot on the playoffs.
