The NBA Continues To Debate Big Mid-Season Changes
For the last few years, the NBA has considered a major change to its schedule.
They have been kicking around the idea of creating an in-season tournament that would take place in the middle of the year and would drum up excitement and offer trophies and bragging rights before the Finals.
The concept may become a reality within the next few years but the league is still figuring out what it will look like.
NBA Commissioner Adam Silver was in Salt Lake City over the weekend for the All-Star Game and repeatedly spoke to the press about a number of basketball issues.
One of the things he touched upon was the idea of foreign basketball teams playing against NBA squads.

Silver said that the league has discussed the possibility of the proposed in-game tournament including “clubs from outside the NBA.”
This would mean that basketball teams from the EuroLeague and other international organizations could make their way to the United States to participate in the in-season competition.
This idea makes a lot of sense because basketball has become way more popular over the last generation.
From Africa to Europe, Canada, China, and beyond, the NBA’s reach has never been wider.
There are currently a bunch of international stars dominating the league.
In fact, four MVP candidates – Nikola Jokic, Joel Embiid, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Luka Doncic – are all international players.
Therefore, including stars and teams from other countries is a smart move from the NBA.
It’ll be some time before we get more specifics about this possible in-season tournament.
It may end up being a welcoming event for people from all over the globe.
