It’s no secret that the Los Angeles Lakers‘ 2022-23 season has been a major letdown so far.

The team is 0-5 and looks like nothing close to a playoff contender at the moment.

The Lakers didn’t play on Saturday, but their situation still managed to get even more embarrassing than it was when the day began.

How?

Because after the Sacramento Kings’ 119-113 win over the Miami Heat, the Lakers are now the only team in the NBA without a win.

To make matters worse, the 2022-23 Lakers are the first LeBron James-led team to have the outright worst record in the league at any point in a season.

James has been in the league since the 2003-04 campaign.

The Lakers can’t catch a break right now, and it might be a while before they’re able to stop the bleeding.

A Tough Road Ahead

The Lakers’ upcoming schedule isn’t exactly a cakewalk.

Los Angeles’ next five games will come against teams that currently have winning records, so it’s entirely possible that the squad will be looking at a record in the ballpark of 2-8, 1-9, or even 0-10 through its first 10 games.

The Lakers are going to need a serious momentum shift to occur if they want to sneak into the playoff discussion at some point.

L.A.’s issues are well-documented by now — the team simply lacks shooting, which is a flaw that can’t be fixed with the pieces currently on the roster.

Time will tell if the Lakers make a splash through the trade market to pump some life into their season.
