The New York Knicks are attempting to figure out how to avoid a new season that looks anything like the last one.

It was an abysmal season for New York, who ended up as the 11th seed with a 37-45 record.

Obviously, some things need to change.

The front office already made a significant signing when they added Jalen Brunson for a gigantic $104 million deal.

But they’re not done with signings.

The Knicks have signed two-way center Jericho Sims to a three-year deal.

You might not know Sims’ name – yet – but he could become a more prominent face on the team in the months ahead.

What does Sims need to bring to the team to help them get back on track?

Sticking With Sims

This will be Sims’ second season in the NBA and also his second year in New York with the Knicks.

He didn’t get a lot of time on the floor in his first year, averaging just 13.5 minutes a game.

During that time, he put up 2.2 points and 4.1 rebounds during 41 games.

Keep an eye on that rebounding stat when the new season starts because it’s not huge right now but it is promising.

With the 6-foot-10 Sims, Julius Randle, Mitchell Robinson, and others, the Knicks are trying to get bigger and better.

There is still much more work to be done, however.

The defense and offense of the team needs to be greatly improved and head coach Tom Thibodeau needs to find a lineup that really works for this team.

After the horrible season they just had, the Knicks will definitely need to enhance and tweak nearly every aspect of the team.
