The New York Jets are on their way to looking dramatically different from last season when they got off to a surprising 6-3 start.

They’re apparently nearing the acquisition of Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who has said he wants to join the Jets, which may mean that all that’s left is for the two teams to work out the terms of a trade.

New York has officially acquired wide receiver Allen Lazard, who played five seasons with Rodgers in Green Bay and collected 788 yards and six touchdowns in 2022.

The team is also reportedly looking to trade punter Braden Mann.

Mann, a sixth-round draft pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, has played all three of his pro seasons for the Jets, and he led the league with 3,598 putting yards and 82 punts as a rookie.

Before that, he had four stellar seasons at Texas A&M University, where he garnered All-American honors and broke multiple punting records.

However, Mann botched a couple of punts in 2022 that resulted in special teams touchdowns for the other team, and the addition of punter Thomas Morstead could make him fully expendable.

Regardless of what happens with Mann, the Jets may not be the favorites in the AFC East next season, but they should be a legitimate playoff contender.

The problem for them is that the rest of the conference is very deep, especially with the Miami Dolphins adding Pro Bowl cornerback Jalen Ramsey, the Cleveland Browns about to benefit from a full season of Deshaun Watson under center and the Las Vegas Raiders replacing Derek Carr with Jimmy Garoppolo.
