The Dodgers Lead An Important MLB Ranking

It’s prospect season in MLB.

Around this time of the year, each publication releases some of the most valuable prospect-related content on the web: organizational rankings, team-by-team rankings, undervalued and overvalued young players, and of course, top-100 lists.

The Athletic’s Keith Law, one of the most knowledgeable voices in the industry, ranked the farm systems of all 30 MLB teams.

Do you know who got the top spot?

Yes, the Los Angeles Dodgers.

With an elite mix of money, willingness to spend it, scouting, and player development skills, the Dodgers claim the top position when it comes to minor league systems.

Despite completing impactful trades such as the Mookie Betts and the Trea Turner–Max Scherzer deals in recent seasons, LA is still number one.

That’s impressive and scary at the same time.

This system used to have Keibert Ruiz, Josiah Gray, Jeter Downs, Gavin Lux, Will Smith, Dustin May, and other important prospects just a couple of years ago.

The first three were traded away, and the next three graduated.

They have enough depth and quality to claim first place, though.

Miguel Vargas, Diego Cartaya, Michael Grove, Mitch White, Ryan Pepiot, River Ryan, Josue De Paula, and Dalton Rushing are just some of the names who could make an impact with the Dodgers within the next couple of years or be used as trade bait.

It’s a talented, deep group that will continue to grow because the Dodgers prioritize scouting in their model.

Identifying top-end talent is the key to sustained success, and the Dodgers are the best in the league at that.
