The Houston Astros haven’t lost a game in a while.

They secured a first-round bye in the postseason long ago, so there was no Wild Card round for them.

During the American League Division Series against the Seattle Mariners, they were against the ropes in all three games, but won them all.

Games 1 and 2 found the Astros down in the score in the ninth and sixth inning, respectively, and Game 3 was a 18-inning marathon in which any run by the Mariners after the ninth frame would have represented a defeat for Houston.

After wrapping up the ALDS against Seattle with a 3-0 mark, the Astros haven’t played.

They will take the field today, at Minute Maid Park, against the New York Yankees for Game 1 of the AL Championship Series.

The Astros Haven’t Lost Since October 3

To sum up: Houston has been perfect for a couple of weeks.

“In the last 13 days since Oct. 6 the #Astros have played only 3 games while the #Padres have played 8 games. The records in that span by the four remaining LCS teams: Houston Astros: 3-0. New York Yankees: 3-2. Philadelphia Phillies: 6-1. San Diego Padres: 5-3,” MLB insider Bob Nightengale tweeted.

In fact, the Astros won their last two regular season games.

The last time they lost was on October 3 against the Phillies, with the final score being 3-0.

Even though they haven’t played all that much since October 6, it’s quite an accomplishment for the Astros, who are looking to return to the World Series for the first time since the heart-breaking loss to the Washington Nationals in 2019.

They are the strongest team in the American League and perhaps in all baseball.

The Yankees are no slouches, but Houston should be viewed as the favorites.
