With the World Baseball Classic now over, the talk of the town is what took place right at the end.

Of course, it was only fitting that it came down to this moment.

It was Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani, two Los Angeles Angels teammates who were battling it out to see who would come out on top.

The battle was intense, to say the least, with Trout working the count full.

However, Ohtani turned to his slider and managed to strike out Trout and secure a title for Team Japan, while also dethroning Team USA in the process.

After the game, Japan’s manager Hideki Kuriyama commented on how special the moment was, saying that it made him appreciate the greatness of baseball.

Moments such as this surely do make people stop and think about how truly special the game of baseball is.

Trout and Ohtani are arguably the two best players in all of baseball and were prepared for the final matchup.

As if having their two squads go at it in the championship game wasn’t enough, the two actually got the chance to face each other with the game and the tournament on the line.

And so, an intense battled ensued, but Ohtani was ultimately the one that came out on top.

The World Baseball Classic will not return again until 2026, but if 2023 was any indication, we’re certainly in for yet another wild ride as Japan looks to defend their title while other teams seek to claim the glory for themselves.
