This will be a key offseason for the Golden State Warriors.

They’re coming off a disappointing end to the season, and they could also lose GM Bob Myers.

More than that, Draymond Green’s future with the organization is also in question, as he can opt out on the final year of his contract and pursue a bigger payday as a free agent, as he’s unlikely to get the max contract extension he reportedly wants.

That’s why Steve Kerr wanted to point out just how important Green is for the team, stating that they won’t be championship contenders if he leaves, plain and simple.

Of course, those words put a lot of pressure on the front office to try and work things out with their controversial defensive anchor.

Green starred in a now-infamous altercation with Jordan Poole, punching him in practice and making fans and analysts speculate about the beginning of the end of his tenure in the Bay Area.

He already stated his desire to run it back and finish his career in the same place it started, but we’ve seen players say a lot of things in the past and then leave anyway.

The Warriors reportedly still have faith in their championship core and will look to retool around their three stars, namely Green, Stephen Curry, and Klay Thompson.

But at the end of the day, it seems like the decision will be Green’s, and it’ll be interesting to see how he reacts to the idea of potentially taking yet another pay cut.
