Ian Happ is coming off a hot 2022 that has got fans looking for the Chicago Cubs to give him an extension.

While Happ had his best season in 2022, he has yet to get an extension with the Cubs.

However, some fans might not know how good the outfielder was last season.

Marquee Sports Network was happy to tweet out how well the young outfielder did in 2022.

While playing the left field position, he was top-five in hits, extra-base hits, doubles, and WAR.

These numbers are great news for the Cubs.

They show how he’s making major improvements at the plate, something the team needs in 2023.

However, he wasn’t only showcasing talent on offense last season.

He won his first Gold Glove Award last season and made his first All-Star appearance as well.

These things prove he’s trending in the right direction with the team.

He made an immense improvement with his batting average as well, going from .226 in 2021 to .271 in 2022.

With him being one of the best left fielders last season, the spotlight is on him to continue to shine in 2023.

While he’s without an extension, this season can show if he’s trending in the right direction or if he had a fluke season.

If he continues his progression as a top-five left fielder, he can get an extension.

However, the worry is how he’s inconsistent with his offensive production.

While it might be true, 2022 seems more like a turning of a corner with Happ and not a fluke season from him.
