With the NBA offseason officially underway for the Los Angeles Lakers, the rumors are starting to swirl about the team’s intentions this summer to upgrade the roster and potentially convince LeBron James to continue his playing career.

Most rumors about the Lakers organization involve the 17-time NBA champions addressing the point guard position in the backcourt, with D’Angelo Russell potentially on the way out and some big-name players being targeted.

One rumor that is starting to gain steam is the Lakers trading for star point guard Trae Young of the Atlanta Hawks, who was seen at some games at Crypto.com Arena during the playoffs.

Skip Bayless of Fox Sports is the latest to chime in on the Young-to-the-Lakers rumors, and he believes it’s a bad idea to bring in another inefficient shooter that can’t or won’t play defense via The Skip Bayless Show.

Along with Young, the Lakers have been linked to Kyrie Irving and Fred VanVleet, in terms of the team trying to upgrade the point guard position for next season and beyond.

The rumors about Irving wanting to come to the Lakers have been going on for quite some time now and may have some validity, as he was also seen at games in Los Angeles during the team’s postseason run.

As for VanVleet, the Toronto Raptors may be ready to move on, and he may be looking for a chance to contend for another title, with Los Angeles potentially posing an ideal situation for the veteran guard.

Only time will tell which rumors have some merit, but one thing seems for sure, the Lakers will be in the headlines a lot this summer, as usual.
