Fans of the Boston Red Sox are getting tired of the apparent lack of effort from the team’s front office.

Though several key moves have been made, they aren’t exactly moves that are going to put the Red Sox in the conversation for an AL East title in 2023, especially after the team lost Xander Bogaerts in free agency.

Still, there are some things to look forward to.

Recently, the Red Sox agreed to terms with Rafael Devers, the rock of the team, on an 11-year, $331 million contract extension.

On Twitter, one fan posted a video of Devers hitting a home run and expressed excitement for the opportunity to watch him do it in a Red Sox uniform for the next 11 seasons.

That’s one thing to potentially hold onto if you’re a Red Sox fan.

There could be some optimism for the future.

It may not temper the frustrations of the fanbase, but it is a silver lining of sorts.

Now, it’s up to the Red Sox front office to build a contending team around him.

The signings of Adam Duvall, Justin Turner, Masataka Yoshida, Corey Kluber, and Kenley Jansen were key moves, but more might be needed for the team to contend.

Devers hit for a .295 average and crushed 27 home runs in 2022 and is looking to do more damage for the Sox in 2023.

For fans frustrated with a lack of activity, there can be solace taken in the fact that Devers isn’t going anywhere anytime soon and will be with the team for the next decade-plus.
