The Boston Red Sox are a team that has outperformed their preseason expectations this year.

The team is 23-20 after 43 games.

They also find themselves right in the thick of the postseason chase, just 1.5 games behind the New York Yankees for the final AL Wild Card spot.

But with the Red Sox being a big-market team with a lot of financial resources, some fans are hoping that Shohei Ohtani, who is a free agent at the end of the year, may end up coming to Boston.

One fan even asked President of Baseball Operations Chaim Bloom if he planned on making a move for the two-way superstar while he was signing autographs.

Bloom, of course, did not answer this question, smiling and telling the fan that he couldn’t talk about things such as this.

He also joked that he gets asked the question about Ohtani every time he comes out to Fenway Park.

Given that the Red Sox have plenty of financial resources, Bloom likely has been asked this question quite a bit.

Ohtani was teammates with Red Sox outfielder Masataka Yoshida during the World Baseball Classic.

The fan then began to list the reasons why he thought Bloom should indeed pursue Ohtani.

Bloom once again commented that he couldn’t talk about these things, especially since the two-way star is “somebody else’s player.”

But a reunion between Ohtani and Yoshida is not out of the realm of possibility.

The Red Sox may decide they need a little extra starting pitching and some thump in their lineup.
