With each passing day, it seems more likely that Aaron Rodgers has played his last game for the Green Bay Packers.

The star quarterback has met with the New York Jets, who are very interested in him, and some feel a trade there is becoming inevitable.

One has to wonder why the Packers are even allowing such talks to take place.

Team president and CEO Mark Murphy told Adriana Torres of WBAY-TV in Green Bay that they “wanted to help Aaron achieve what he wanted, as well as the Packers,” and such words make it sound like the franchise is ready to part ways with Rodgers.

Green Bay is the only organization Rodgers has ever played for, and he has put in 15 years as a full-time starter.

His resume has been exceeded by only a handful of other quarterbacks, as he has won four league MVPs, including two in the last three years, and led the Packers to a Super Bowl championship.

However, his production dipped in 2022, which has led some to speculate that the 39-year-old is now in gradual decline.

In addition, he has developed a reputation as being difficult after demanding a huge contract extension and threatening to leave the Packers if he wasn’t paid big bucks last offseason.

If Rodgers does indeed leave Wisconsin, he would be following in the footsteps of his predecessor Brett Favre, who departed in 2008 to play a season for the Jets, as well as two seasons afterward with the Minnesota Vikings, the Packers’ historic NFC North rival.
