Conventional football wisdom dictates that the Green Bay Packers are doomed after losing All-Pro wide receiver Davante Adams.

Without him, who will field balls from reigning Most Valuable Player Aaron Rodgers?

However, the Packers have a chance to win as long as Rodgers is under center.

Besides, it’s not like they are playing in a strong division, which helps them rack up victories.

Still, Adams’ departure is a huge concern and it’s still unknown who will likely be the team’s top receiver.

Allen Lazard might be in for a breakout season now that he will get more targets.

Then there’s Sammy Watkins, who the Packers signed on a one-year deal this offseason.

He might not have a career as consistent as Adams but he has played out his best football with some of the current Packers’ coaches.

The Athletic’s Matt Schneidman shared, “Sammy Watkins’ most productive football has come in Buffalo and Los Angeles. Packers WRs coach Jason Vrable was an assistant working with Watkins in Buffalo and Matt LaFleur was the Rams’ OC when Watkins caught eight TDs.”

It was with the Bills that Watkins had his best NFL seasons.

The former Clemson standout had 982 yards and six touchdowns in his rookie year.

A year later, he had career-highs of 1,047 yards and nine touchdowns.

LaFleur and Vrable Will Help Watkins Succeed

It’s not an accident that Watkins was the guy the Packers signed.

While there are other options available, LaFleur and Vrable would know how to bring out the best in him.

Therefore, it’s possible that he will have a bounce-back season, especially playing with an elite thrower in Rodgers.

He will find Watkins more often than not, which leads to big gains or even touchdowns.

That said, he should surpass his 394 yards and one touchdown from last season.
