Odds Show Favorite For Jets To Draft In First Round

The 2023 season was an outright disaster for the New York Jets from the start.

There was plenty of excitement and intrigue during the offseason when they traded for future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers, but Rodgers tore his Achilles during their first offensive series of the season.

With that went their Super Bowl hopes, which were the types of hopes they hadn’t dared dream of for about half a century.

After going 7-10 in 2023, the Jets will have the No. 10 pick in next month’s NFL Draft, and per Rich Cimini, they’re projected to take tight end Brock Bowers from the University of Georgia.

Bowers is considered by many to be the best tight end prospect in this year’s draft, and this past season, he had 714 yards and six touchdowns in 10 games.

New York has a capable No. 1 wide receiver in Garrett Wilson, and they have just brought in Mike Williams, formerly of the Los Angeles Chargers, to serve as Wilson’s running mate.

While tight end Tyler Conklin had a solid year for them in 2023, many feel Bowers will be a special player at the next level.

While many felt the Jets would have a shot at competing for a Super Bowl appearance when last season started, it is now apparent that they have several needs, even if Rodgers continues to play at a high level following his Achilles injury.

Drafting Bowers would also give them a potential star for many years to come on offense long after Rodgers either leaves or retires, and he could help ensure a smoother transition to their next starting QB.
