NFL World Is Buzzing Over Draft Prospect’s Speed
This April’s NFL draft is believed to be chock-full of quarterbacks who have the potential to be game-changers for a number of teams.
But as is often the case, there are a few unheralded prospects who have a shot at becoming very good players at the next level.
Kazmeir Allen, a wide receiver for the University of California, Los Angeles Bruins, is someone who scouts don’t seem to think very highly of.
However, he recently showed what appears to be world-class speed while running on a treadmill.

Allen stands just 5-foot-9 and weighs only 175 pounds, which makes him very small compared to wide receivers in the NFL.
This year, he put up 403 receiving yards and two receiving touchdowns, not exactly impressive stats, and he didn’t play much of a role in the Bruins going 9-4 and making it to the Sun Bowl.
He is a hybrid wideout/running back, and he used to primarily play in the backfield until recently, but even then, he wasn’t exactly a prolific tailback.
Allen has been lauded for his mental toughness, but even with his world-class speed, his subpar physical qualities could make it hard for him to succeed at the pro level.
He wasn’t invited to the scouting combine, and there seems to be a real chance that he will go undrafted in April.
If he does find his way onto an NFL roster, he may have to settle for being a kick returner, at least until he proves he can hang with defensive backs in the pros.
