NFL Reporter Reveals Saquon Barkley’s Asking Price
Saquon Barkley had a remarkable comeback season in 2022.
Barkley tore his ACL in 2020, and suffered yet another ankle injury in 2021, but was able to reach his former glory in 2022.
This year, he ran for 1,312 yards and scored 10 rushing touchdowns, good for fourth and tenth in the league, respectively.
In 2018, Barkley signed a four-year, $31 million contract with the New York Giants, and is looking to sign his second.
However, it appears that the team and Barkley are still trying to find an equitable contract that is fitting for both parties.
… Barkley was offered around $12M/season during the bye week, per sources, and Schoen said they weren’t close in value. Barkley said yesterday he didn’t necessarily want to set the market, though I continue to hear he wants near Christian Mcaffrey’s $16M average. …

Recent reporting suggests that the Giants were willing to pay Barkley around $12 million per season, at least, that was the offer at hand during the Giants’ bye week.
However, given the star caliber of Barkley’s play, it looks like he is looking for a contract similar to that of Christian McCaffrey, one of the league’s other premier backs.
Whether Barkley will re-sign with the Giants will remain to be seen.
For now, with both sides far apart in contract negotiations, the team has contended that they want to keep Barkley around for the long haul.
If for some reason both sides are unable to agree, Barkley has every right to test out free agency, where many teams will come knocking.
Barkley will begin the 2023 season at 26 years old.
Even if he is only able to secure a two to a three-year contract, in 2022, he proved that he is worthy of another contract.
What team will ultimately win the Barkley sweepstakes?
