NFL Insider Slows Down The Aaron Rodgers Speculation

On Tuesday, it was reported that Woody Johnson, the owner of the New York Jets, flew to Southern California to meet with Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

The Jets have been incessantly linked to Rodgers, who is 39 years of age and seemingly on the downside of his career, but still a viable NFL signal-caller.

People across the Tri-state area seem to be getting stoked about the prospect of having a serious threat under center for the 2023 season, but NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo says such fans should curb their enthusiasm.

Rodgers saw his production dip in 2022, as his completion percentage, passing yards, and passing touchdowns fell compared to 2021.

However, that dip was relatively modest and could perhaps be mostly attributed to the departure of superstar wide receiver Davante Adams, who was traded a year ago.

Then there is Rodgers’ off-the-field reputation, which has taken a hit over the last year or two amidst contract demands he made of the Packers and his dishonesty about getting vaccinated against COVID-19.

Since he is currently under contract, the Jets would have to give Green bay a good deal of draft compensation to nab him.

But some feel a Rodgers move to New York could awaken a growing monster.

The Jets had the NFL’s fourth-best scoring defense in 2022 behind Defensive Rookie of the Year Sauce Gardner and fellow Pro Bowlers C.J. Mosley and Quinnen Williams, and they also boast wide receiver Garrett Wilson, the Offensive Rookie of the Year.
