NFL Insider Highlights A Competitive Change For Derek Carr
The New Orleans Saints have a new quarterback.
After showing plenty of interest in former Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Derek Carr, the Saints completed a deal with him.
New Orleans spent last season with the likes of Jameis Winston and Andy Dalton under center.
So, no question that adding Carr will be an immediate improvement.
But, for Carr, leaving the AFC West for the NFC South, may be one of the best decisions he ever made.
All quarterbacks will be evaluated on how they perform in the playoffs.
Carr has yet to win a playoff game in his career, but the path to getting there has gotten a whole lot easier.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers won the South last year with eight wins.
But, they just lost quarterback Tom Brady to retirement.
Looking across the division, Carr is by far the most experienced and most talented quarterback.
New Orleans is the easy favorite to win the division next year.
Derek Carr went from a division with Patrick Mahomes, Justin Herbert and Russell Wilson (with Sean Payton) to a division where the other three teams might not even have their QB1 on the roster as of now.

Sometimes it is better to think smarter and not harder, and that is exactly what Carr did.
The NFC is the weaker conference, and he increased his chances of playoff success by making this move.
Carr will be entering his age-32 season, and his 10th year in the NFL.
The Saints have a good group of skilled players that Carr can throw to as well.
Alvin Kamara, Chris Olave, and possibly Michael Thomas provide the Saints will a solid offense.
New Orleans will be one team worth watching next season, to see how far their new quarterback can take them.
