Amazon paid a huge amount to broadcast the NFL‘s Thursday Night Football.

It’s an innovative step towards being a power player in a sport that major television networks have covered.

As part of the deal, Prime Video will be the exclusive partner for Thursday’s games.

Therefore, they are banking on having great games on Thursday night for football fans to tune in.

Unfortunately, there are some disappointing offerings, like the Week 5 game between the Indianapolis Colts and the Denver Broncos.

The Ringer’s Rodger Sherman painted a bleak picture regarding that low-scoring game.

Sherman tweeted, “Amazon paid $13 billion over 11 years for Thursday Night Football. that’s $1.18 billion per year. and there are 15 TNF games per year. long story short, they paid about $78 million to broadcast this Colts-Broncos game.”

That per-game amount is a massive expense, considering that both teams did not score a touchdown despite multiple opportunities.

Quarterbacks Matt Ryan and Russell Wilson also threw two interceptions each.

Both teams played poorly, especially on third down, where they were a combined six out of 31.

Broncos fans had enough of their team’s woes so much that they left the stadium before overtime.

It turned out they were right, as Wilson failed to complete a pass to Courtland Sutton, sealing the 12-9 win for Indianapolis.

Upcoming Thursday Night Football Games

The Chicago Bears and the Washington Commanders will compete in what is shaping up to be a low-scoring Week 6 contest.

Then, the New Orleans Saints take on the Arizona Cardinals in Week 7.

Week 8 looks promising as the Baltimore Ravens take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

A week later, the Philadelphia Eagles and the Houston Texans play on Thursday night.
