NFL Analyst Says The Packers Should Focus On 1 Position In Draft

The Green Bay Packers had a very disappointing 2022 season, going just 8-9 and missing the playoffs.

It looks like an era is also about to end, as quarterback Aaron Rodgers is apparently on his way to the New York Jets.

That will mean that Jordan Love, the 26th pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, will finally get his opportunity to be a full-time starter under center.

Perhaps the one bright spot out of such a dismal season is the fact that Green Bay will have the 15th pick in this year’s draft, and analyst Mina Kimes feels they should target a tight end such as Michael Mayer of the University of Notre Dame.

The Packers’ receiving corps was very weak this past season, and if Mayer pans out in the pros, he could help fortify that crew a bit.

In each of his last two seasons with the Fighting Irish, he posted over 800 yards and at least seven touchdowns.

Of course, no one (with the possible exception of some people in the Packers organization) know quite what to expect from Love as a full-time starting quarterback, let alone whether he has the ability to elevate the skill players around him.

The team has two solid running backs in Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon, and rookie wide receiver Christian Watson went on a mini-tear over the last several weeks of the 2022 campaign.

However, they lost Allen Lazard, their top threat at wideout, to the Jets.

It looks like the future is now for the Packers, and it is time for them to maximize their draft capital.
