The Cincinnati Bengals landed a generational talent when they took Joe Burrow with the first-overall pick.

Not many players could single-handedly turn a franchise around — and he’s got plenty of talent around him — but Burrow looks like he has all the tools to become one of the greatest quarterbacks in NFL history.

That’s why former NFL player-turned-analyst Bucky Brooks believes a win on Sunday over Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs would make him the undisputed No. 1 QB in the NFL right now:

“He can do all the things that you want to see, and he has a talented supporting cast, but you know what he is? He’s a double-A battery. He’s accurate, and he’s athletic,” Brooks said.

Notably, that wouldn’t be that much of a hot take, all things considered.

Mahomes might be the most athletic guy, and his no-look passes, scrambles and arm strength are — of course — remarkable.

But in terms of being a pure QB, Burrow has all the tools — both tangible and intangible — and a win on Sunday would take him to 4-0 in his career against Mahomes and the Chiefs.

Burrow led the Bengals, of all teams, to the Super Bowl in his first full season in the league.

More than that, he did it with one of the worst offensive lines in the game, having little-to-no time to operate whatsoever.

He’s already making great strides and setting accuracy marks in NFL playoff history, and he’s a win away from two Super Bowl wins in as many seasons.

So, Burrow is no longer the future of this league.

He’s not next, or the guy who’ll take the torch.

He’s the present already, and he’s only getting better.
