The Indianapolis Colts had set a deadline to move Jonathan Taylor.

According to most reports, they would only consider trading him if something happened prior to Tuesday’s roster cuts, meaning he’s not likely to be on the move now.

The Colts didn’t remove him from the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list before the deadline, so he’s going to miss the first four games of the season, even if he’s traded.

Notably, NFL reporter Stephen Holder reports that the Green Bay Packers actually inquired as a ‘mystery team’ trying to make the most of his sweepstakes (via Bleacher Report Gridiron).

Needless to say, this strikes as a major surprise, considering they have a more than decent RB tandem featuring Aaron Jones and A.J. Dillon.

Taylor is two years removed from being the league’s leading rusher, so it wasn’t shocking to realize that multiple teams were keeping tabs on him, but it would’ve been hard to envision the Packers joining the race for his services.

Taylor wants to sign a contract extension that makes him one of the highest — if not the highest — paid running back in the game.

That seemed difficult before Tuesday, and now that his injury will keep him on the shelf for one-quarter of the season, a trade seems even less likely.

All signs point toward to Taylor having to make a decision soon and either hold out to force his way out of Jim Irsay’s team, or try to prove his actual worth on the field.
