New Yankees Coach Shares His Plans For Aaron Judge

The New York Yankees announced a new hire on Monday.

No, it’s not that elusive left fielder or a new third baseman.

It’s assistant hitting coach Brad Wilkerson.

The Yanks’ offense was dysfunctional in the second half.

After an impressive performance before the break, most of the bats went cold by late July.

Except for Aaron Judge, of course, who wound up hitting 62 home runs and .311 on the year.

The team would love to get another fresh voice to help get the best out of a talented lineup, and they chose Wilkerson to work with hitting coach Dillon Lawson.

They will try to resurrect Josh Donaldson‘s and Aaron Hicks‘ bats, among the most disappointing on the squad.

Wilkerson will also work with Isiah Kiner-Falefa and the catchers, trying to make them at least average hitters.

There is one player he will barely talk to, though.

That’s the only right answer to that situation.

There is no point in wasting too much time and energy on a guy who just fought for the American League hitting Triple Crown and established a homer record in the junior circuit.

What can he even tell him?

Wilkerson was no slouch as a major leaguer, hitting 122 home runs and driving in 399 runs.

However, there are more urgent needs in the Yankees’ lineup than trying to teach Judge how to hit a baseball.

Everybody can agree on that point.
