The Milwaukee Brewers have made their first free agent signing of the offseason official.

Last week, the Brewers signed veteran left-hander Wade Miley to a one-year contract worth $4.5 million.

Miley spent the 2022 season with the Chicago Cubs.

Unfortunately, the lefty missed significant time dealing with injuries and only made eight starts.

In nine appearances, Miley went 2-2 and had an ERA of 3.16.

Miley spent the 2018 season with the Brewers, going 5-2 in 16 starts with a 2.57 ERA.

On Twitter, MLB insider Jon Heyman broke down the southpaw’s new contract with the team, explaining all of the financial details.

Miley has a mutual option on his contract for the 2024 season.

Miley’s option for 2024 will be worth $10 million.

The Brewers had been quiet thus far in the offseason, at least in the free agent market.

They had swung trades for catcher William Contreras and outfielder Jesse Winker, but hadn’t done anything else outside of those moves.

Now, they add a veteran starter to an already solid starting rotation that still features Corbin Burnes, Brandon Woodruff, and Freddy Peralta.

They also have him on an affordable contract.

If Miley can stay healthy, he could prove to be a valuable addition to the Brewers starting rotation as they look to bounce back after missing the postseason.

The Brewers finished with a record of 86-76 in 2022, coming in second place in the NL Central behind the St. Louis Cardinals.

For his career, Miley owns a record of 99-94 and an ERA of 4.13.

Miley will add some veteran experience to a young rotation.
