Yesterday marked the beginning what could be an offseason full of major changes for a lot of teams.

The Kansas City Royals decided it was time for a change, firing manager Mike Matheny and pitching coach Cal Eldred.

The Royals finished the 2022 season with a 67-95 record and in last place in the American League Central.

But MLB insider Jeff Passan seems to think that more changes will be coming for other teams when concerning their managers.

There are several teams who could potentially be making managerial changes.

As Passan alluded to, this may just be the start of an offseason full of changes.

Will More Managers Be Fired?

Who knows which teams will be making changes?

Could we see the Boston Red Sox potentially part ways with Alex Cora after a disappointing season.

Maybe the Pittsburgh Pirates will send Derek Shelton on his way.

There’s no way of knowing just yet, but at the very least, the Royals have made some significant changes early on in the process.

There’s no indication that they have a new candidate ready to take Matheny’s place.

We’ve seen several teams fire their managers over the past few years.

The St. Louis Cardinals let go of Mike Shildt in a surprising move last October.

The San Diego Padres fired Jayce Tingler as well.

We also saw the Toronto Blue Jays and Philadelphia Phillies make mid-season managerial changes, and those changes paid immediate dividends and got both teams going in the right direction.

We’ll see if it helps the Royals at all in 2023.

But this could be a wild offseason ahead of us if what Passan says is true.

Will we see more managers let go in the coming months?
