MLB Insider Notes A Current Astros Run
The Houston Astros are the reigning World Series champions.
They have gone to the last six American League Championship Series and have made it to four World Series since 2017, winning two.
Forget the Atlanta Braves, the Los Angeles Dodgers, the New York Yankees, or the Tampa Bay Rays: the best and most consistently great team in the last six or seven years has been the Astros.
The beginning of their 2023 season was less than auspicious, though.
While the Texas Rangers got off to an incredible start, Houston was barely above .500.
Not anymore.
The sleeping giant woke up.

Unlike the Pittsburgh Pirates, a team that fell off a cliff after an improbably good start, the Rangers are playing great baseball at the moment.
They have the top spot in the AL West with a 29-17 record and have won seven of their last ten.
The Astros, somehow, are even hotter.
They have won 10 of their last 11 games, they have an incredible lineup and a deep rotation, and they have their spiritual leader back: Jose Altuve has already returned after missing almost two months with a fractured thumb.
Everything is clicking for the Astros right now: Alex Bregman is heating up, Kyle Tucker has been a consistent source of power and speed, and Yordan Alvarez is healthy and playing nearly every day.
The Rangers are legit, but the Astros will represent a great challenge for them.
This race looks like it’s going to go down to the wire.
