Minnesota Twins Executive Discusses Key Offseason Moves
The Minnesota Twins were prepared to begin life without Carlos Correa this past offseason.
But after the San Francisco Giants and New York Mets raised concerns over the star shortstop’s right ankle, Correa landed back with the Twins.
Minnesota also added pieces such as Joey Gallo, Christian Vazquez, and Pablo Lopez.
And so, heading into the 2023 season, Twins President of Baseball Operations Derek Falvey is feeling confident about where things stand with his team.
On Tuesday, Falvey got a chance to speak with Joel Sherman and Jon Heyman of the New York Post and discuss the Twins’ offseason signings and trades.

Falvey said he understood where the Mets and Giants were coming from in terms of their concerns, but stated that he was confident that Correa could stay healthy.
He also discussed the terms in the deal the Twins made with the star shortstop and the incentives involved that could ultimately make him more money and extend the deal if he remains healthy.
Falvey then praised Correa for his work ethic and why they wanted him around, saying that he ultimately believes that the deal they agreed to with the star shortstop is one that benefits both sides.
Correa has obviously been one of baseball’s most productive players over the last several years.
Falvey says that the production of the star shortstop played a big role in him returning.
He reiterated that the deal works out both in his favor and that of the Twins, given the incentives that were thrown into it before it was signed.
