The New York Jets might be in for a treat when it comes to a quarterback competition.

Quarterback Mike White has performed well for them, especially with the benching of 2021 first-round pick Zach Wilson.

Although a small sample size, White lit up the stat sheet on Sunday against the Chicago Bears.

With White’s performance in mind, the Jets’ front office will need to ask themselves a few questions.

Do we continue to bench Zach Wilson?

Is Mike White our future?

Both questions will come to a head in the coming weeks.

The Jets travel to Minnesota this week to take on the Vikings.

If White can pull another rabbit out of his hat, and play to a similar caliber this week against the Vikings, there will be great pressure to name White the full-time starter.

Is White Truly The Better Quarterback?

In just seven games this year, Wilson is completing passes at a 55.6% rate and has thrown more interceptions on the year (five) than he has touchdown passes (four).

In his one game as the Jets starter, White completed passes at a 78.6% rate and threw three touchdowns for 315 yards.

At the moment, it does make sense for the Jets to ride their hot hand at quarterback, and continue to start White.

However, because of Wilson’s draft capital, if White has any sort of decline in play or production, the Jets may go back to Wilson.

If the Jets want to make the playoffs, they will need to make their decision on their quarterback so they can continue team chemistry and cohesion.
