The Dallas Cowboys have Dak Prescott tied up for the future, and the latest reports state that they’re planning on extending him even further pretty soon.

But they wouldn’t be doing their job if they weren’t doing their due diligence on other quarterback prospects in the upcoming NFL Draft.

So, while they’re not expected to pursue any of the potential stars in this class, namely Bryce Young, C.J. Stroud, Will Levis, or Anthony Richardson, it seems like they’re keeping tabs on a guy that rapidly rose to prominence last season.

At least, that’s what one might tell by looking at HC Mike McCarthy’s recent comments, as he praised TCU star Max Duggan and raved about his character and toughness, per Jon Machota of The Athletic.

“I just love the way he plays,” McCarthy said. “In the games I saw, you’re never out of the game with Max. I think that’s a huge characteristic as a QB that you have to have in this league. You have to win those games. You see it every year in the playoffs.”

Duggan was at the centerpiece of the Horned Frogs’ outstanding season, but he was quite exposed against Georgia’s elite defense in the National Championship Game.

Unlike McCarthy, NFL scouts aren’t exactly enamored with Duggan as a prospect, as there are serious concerns about his accuracy, ball placement, and potential as a natural passer.

Some scouts believe he’s a backup quarterback at the NFL level at best, with some thinking he could be a day-three pick and others predicting he’ll go undrafted.

Of course, the Cowboys could definitely use someone behind Dak if — when — he misses time with an injury, and they do have a pick in the third round, so don’t be shocked if they take a flier on the TCU star in next month’s festivities.
