Miguel Cabrera Is On A Historically Efficient Streak

If you have been watching baseball since the early 2000s, it’s likely that Detroit Tigers slugger Miguel Cabrera is one of the best right-handed hitters you have seen, together with Albert Pujols and, more recently, Mike Trout.

Even at 39 years old, Cabrera remains a top contact hitter according to the stats.

The funny thing is that his power has completely disappeared.

However, given his age, the team where he plays, and his recent injury history, the fact he is hitting .308 is awfully impressive all things considered.

Power Is Unlikely To Come Back, But It Doesn’t Really Matter

A player who is almost 40 years old with a history of back issues is unlikely to hit for much power at this point of his career.

However, Cabrera has been an above-average offensive performer even without the home runs and slugging percentage.

He is, before Thursday’s games, slashing .308/.347/.372 with three home runs and 31 RBI.

The first two elements of that triple slash line come somewhat close to prime Cabrera, although a bit short.

The power is way off, though.

The future Hall of Famer hit his 500th home run last year and his 3,000th hit this season, so what else can we ask for at this point?

Oh, and he has more than 600 doubles, too.

He is one of the best hitters to step on an MLB field, and he should be celebrated everywhere he goes.
