Michael Jordan Shares Statement After Completing Hornets Sale
After the sale of his stake in the Charlotte Hornets, Michael Jordan is thanking the city – but not saying goodbye.
Jordan released a statement to the fans of the Hornets, thanking them for their “love and dedication.”
“We’ve had some unforgettable moments together, as well as a few challenging ones, but through it all, you’ve remained committed to us,” Jordan said in the statement.

Jordan opened by saying that owning a basketball team in his home state and the city he loves was “truly a dream come true.”
He didn’t get into the specifics of why he sold his majority stake in the Hornets.
Jordan only stated that he was going to focus more on his family, personal interests, and “some new challenges.”
He touched upon some of the great moments during his tenure, such as securing the NBA All-Star Game in 2019.
The NBA legend also took pride in helping the local community during natural disasters such as hurricanes and COVID-19.
He claims that the team and the fans brought pride to Charlotte.
He also said they “created countless unforgettable memories for families and friends.”
Jordan ended his letter by saying that the city, state, team, and fans will always hold a special place in his heart.
Although he said that it isn’t one, the letter certainly reads like a goodbye note.
It remains to be seen how involved Jordan will be with the Hornets moving forward.
He still has a minority stake in the franchise and is obviously a big fan.
That means he will likely pop up at games still.
Plus, he will forever be championed by the team and its fans.
Jordan owned the team through a very interesting, transitional, and sometimes tough time.
