Mel Kiper Names QB He Sees As The First To Get Drafted

The Houston Texans messed up their opportunity to get the first-overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft.

They went for the win and got it in Week 18 instead of settling for a loss that would’ve given them the worst record in the league.

However, they might be lucky enough to still get the franchise quarterback they so desperately need despite their head-scratching decision to stay competitive with the season already flushed down the drain.

According to NFL Draft specialist Mel Kiper, the Chicago Bears won’t take another QB with the first-overall pick, as they’ve already settled and are happy with Justin Fields in that position.

That means that, unless they trade the pick to another quarterback-needy team, the Texans have the chance to get Ohio State standout C.J. Stroud, who he believes will go second overall as the first quarterback taken in his class.

Stroud went 21-4 as a starter with the Buckeyes and was a two-time Heisman finalist.

He was explosive and efficient with his arm at every single level and proved to be more than capable of getting those difficult yards with his feet as well, even moving the chains against Georgia’s elite defense.

Of course, the Texans need way more than just a quarterback as they go into rebuild mode, but landing one of the most special and versatile prospects in the nation would most definitely put them on the right path once and for all.

Should they miss on him, then they’d still have the chance to land Alabama’s Bryce Young, or Kentucky’s Will Levis.
