Former Atlanta Falcons and Indianapolis Colts QB Matt Ryan walked away from the game without making a formal retirement announcement.

He agreed to join CBS’ broadcast as an analyst, just like several former QBs have done in recent years, so most people assumed he was done with playing.

However, his lack of a formal announcement might not have been a coincidence; he actually may not be retired after all.

In a recent interview on SiriusXM NFL Radio, the 15-year veteran admitted that he could still suit up and take the gridiron again if the right situation were to present itself, citing that you can never shut the door on the National Football League.

Notably, Ryan was one of the most proficient passers in the league during his prime, and his career numbers aren’t bad at all.

His prime wasn’t as long as other players, but he did manage to win one MVP and led his team to that infamous Super Bowl with the 28-3 blown lead against Tom Brady and the New England Patriots.

Even so, it would be hard to envision any team showing legit interest in bringing him back — at least as a starter — after watching him struggle so badly with the Colts last season.

Ryan had a pretty decent career overall, and his fans could try and make a Hall of Fame case for him.

That should be more than enough for him to ride into the sunset with a smile on his face.
