The Minnesota Vikings had a lot to be thankful for during Thanksgiving day.

One of those things is having veteran quarterback Kirk Cousins.

While not everything is going perfectly for him, he’s still having clutch moments this season.

So how is this veteran quarterback having clutch moments this season?

Cousins Ranks Number One In Two Important Categories

When the game is on the line, Cousins has been coming through for the Vikings.

His six game-winning drives and fourth quarter comebacks this season are the most by any quarterback for 2022.

However, these things don’t always translate into greatness.

A look back at Matthew Stafford and his time in Detroit tells a similar tale for fans.

Stafford Had Similar Numbers In 2016 Compared To Cousins

During the 2016 NFL season, Stafford had eight fourth quarter comebacks and eight game winning drives.

However, the rest of the season was plagued with losses, as he was 1-7 in all other games.

While the Lions made the playoffs that year, they were knocked out by the Seattle Seahawks.

Cousins quarterback numbers outside the fourth quarter aren’t good.

Turnovers and other mistakes plague him during the first three quarters of games.

His comebacks have also been against poor teams who the Vikings shouldn’t have been losing to at any point.

Games against the Chicago Bears, Detroit Lions, and New Orleans Saints all needed Cousins to lead a comeback.

While the team has plenty of weapons on offense, sometimes Cousins can’t get in sync with them until late in games.
