Juan Soto Has A Recruiting Pitch In Place For A Former Star Teammate

Trea Turner is having an incredible year in Los Angeles with the Dodgers.

The former World Series champion with the Washington Nationals in 2019 is playing on an elite team and is slashing .301/.350/.474, with 11 home runs and 17 stolen bases.

He also has played excellent defense at the infield’s most important position.

He is making the All-Star team in the National League, where he will join former teammate Juan Soto.

Soto and Turner, together with Howie Kendrick, Anthony Rendon and Ryan Zimmerman, were the heart and soul of those 2019 Nationals.

The Nats, likely to fund a future Soto extension bid, traded Turner to the Dodgers together with Max Scherzer before last year’s deadline, effectively starting Washington’s rebuild.

Soto Wants A Reunion With Turner

Despite the evidence that Turner is in a better place now (for winning, at least), Soto implied he wants to reunite with his former teammate and will make a pitch to him.

Turner is a free agent after the end of the season, and while he will surely consider all bids that come his way, he has stated he would love to return to Los Angeles with the Dodgers.

With that in mind, one has to think the Nats won’t be in his consideration, or at least will be at a disadvantage.

The 56-29 Dodgers are built to succeed over the long haul.

It’s fair to question the 30-58 Nationals’ present and future.

Even Soto’s future is uncertain, so his pitch will likely fail.

However, nothing is set in stone in MLB.
