The Philadelphia Eagles have found their franchise quarterback.

Jalen Hurts, former University of Oklahoma and University of Alabama standout, has been on a mission to silence any doubters about his ability to play quarterback at the highest level.

Through 11 games this season, he appears to be doing just that.

In their Week 12 game against the Green Bay Packers, Hurts rushed for 157 yards, surpassing Michael Vick as the Eagles’ single-game rushing leader from the quarterback position.

Hurts had broken a record that stood for 12 years when Vick had a 130-yard rushing performance in 2010 against the New York Giants.

Hurts Continues To Prove Himself

When he was drafted by the Eagles in 2020, he was coming off an incredible season at Oklahoma.

In this senior season, Hurts totaled 3,851 passing yards, 32 touchdowns, and eight interceptions.

He also added 1,298 rushing yards and 20 additional rushing touchdowns, but ultimately finished as the Heisman Trophy runner-up to LSU quarterback Joe Burrow.

Touted as a rushing-focused quarterback, many analysts and fans alike were doubtful of Hurts, especially since he came in as the third-stringer to then-quarterback Carson Wentz.

After becoming the starter in the back half of his rookie season, there were a lot of unknowns about Hurts and Wentz, and their respective futures with the team.

However, when Wentz was traded to Washington in the 2021 offseason, Coach Sirianni named Hurts the starter.

The rest is history.

Since the beginning of 2021, Hurts has been lighting the league on fire.

While he’s not necessarily poised to win the MVP award this season, Hurts continually proves himself as a consistent offensive threat.
