The Texas Rangers finally got a chance to introduce their new ace Jacob deGrom this afternoon.

The team signed the veteran right-hander to a five-year, $185 million contract.

In nine years with the New York Mets, deGrom was a four-time All-Star, a two-time Cy Young Award winner, and a Rookie of the Year.

In his Mets career, the ace posted a 2.52 ERA and a WAR of 43.8.

During his press conference, a reporter asked deGrom about the level of difficulty of leaving the Mets.

deGrom declared that it was a difficult decision, but that he will always hold a special place in his heart for New York City.

“That’s not an easy decision,” said deGrom. “I spent the first eight-plus years of my career with the New York Mets, and I have to thank them for that.”
