There are times – many of them – when Ja Morant of the Memphis Grizzlies makes it all look easy.

The young man was in the running for MVP in 2021-22 because of his electric and explosive style of play.

In the end, yet another injury sidelined Morant and his Grizzlies fell to the Golden State Warriors in the playoffs.

Still, they had a terrific season and were laying the foundation for a spectacular 2022-23.

The Grizzlies took on the Detroit Pistons on Thursday night and Morant was again putting his skills on full display.

Morant racked up 31 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 assists during the game.

It wasn’t just that he was earning incredible numbers, he was doing it all with pizzazz and personality.

But, what’s new when it comes to Morant?

This guy just loves playing basketball and he has fun making it fun for the fans.

Morant’s MVP Season

Morant is obviously looking to start the season with a huge bang but it remains to be seen if this will translate from preseason to regular.

There is a lot working against the Grizzlies right now, even with Morant playing red-hot basketball.

They are currently missing Jaren Jackson Jr., who is a crucial part of the team’s lineup.

Plus the Western Conference is more stacked than ever before.

Last season, the Denver Nuggets, Los Angeles Clippers, and New Orleans Pelicans were missing their biggest stars.

This season, that won’t be the case and it’ll be tougher for the Grizzlies to cut through all the competition.

That doesn’t mean that Morant won’t have a great, MVP-caliber season though.

He is looking ready to play and ready to impress.
