Cole Kmet is getting some fan fare over his 2022 performance with the Chicago Bears.

The former second-round pick from 2020 had what some are calling a breakout season.

However, does the 23-year-old live up to the hype fans are giving him?

Kmet lives up to most of the hype he’s currently receiving from fans.

While he’s no Travis Kelce, he’s turning a corner in some aspects.

His seven touchdowns in 2022 were a career-high for him in a season.

He doesn’t give up on plays, as fans got to see him fighting for touchdowns.

While his drive and determination were great in 2022, not everything was an improvement this season.

Both his receptions and receiving yards were down over his career highs in 2021.

However, if he had the same number of receptions that he had in 2021, he could have posted better receiving yard numbers.

His two targets and zero receptions during his first two games of 2022 caused those numbers to be on a downtrend.

But overall, Kmet made major improvements in his third season with the Bears.

While there’s work yet to be done, fans are seeing the draft product which Ryan Poles and Matt Nagy saw back in 2020.

Had they drafted someone else, then critics of Justin Fields might have seen a worse season from the young quarterback.

Kmet was a touchdown machine for Fields and was a safety outlet for him when he was in trouble.

The two players working together made the young tight end someone to rave about in Chicago.
