On Tuesday night, San Francisco Giants rookie infielder Casey Schmitt experienced a special moment.

The 24-year-old was making his MLB debut against the Washington Nationals.

In the bottom of the fourth inning, he stepped the plate for his second at-bat with the Giants leading, 2-0.

On the first pitch, Schmitt hit a deep fly ball out to left-center field that went over the outfield wall for his first career home run.

With the home run, he joined an elite list of Giants rookies whose first career hits were home runs.

On Twitter, Giants writer Steven Rissotto posted the list of Giants rookies who have accomplished this feat.

On this list are legends such as Bill White, Orlando Cepeda, Bobby Bonds, and Will Clark.

Brandon Crawford and Adam Duvall also find themselves on the list.

These are some important names in Giants history and players who have each accomplished an impressive feat.

Now, Schmitt has joined this all-exclusive list of Giants greats to have accomplished this feat.

The Giants won the game by a final of 4-1 and improved their record to 16-19 on the season, while also remaining just five games back of first place in the NL West.

Schmitt’s home run backed up a strong outing by right-hander Logan Webb, who fired seven innings and allowed just one run against the struggling Nationals.

But Schmitt’s historic home run was ultimately the story of the game.

The 24-year-old hit the home run with his family in attendance and also joined an elite list of Giants stars.
