The New York Giants had high hopes for wide receiver Kadarius Toney.

After all, he was a part of the First-Team All-SEC and AP Second-Team All-American in his final year with the Florida Gators.

That’s why the four-time Super Bowl champions selected him in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft.

Unfortunately, his rookie season was uneventful with 420 yards and zero touchdowns.

To his defense, he had a 189-yard performance against Dallas Cowboys last season.

But even that outing is overshadowed by the punch he threw to Damontae Kazee.

Aside from the one-game suspension because of that violent act, he ended up playing only 10 games due to COVID-19.

While his first season didn’t turn out to be great, he has an opportunity to bounce back under head coach Brian Daboll.

That said, Pro Football Focus posted a question that has been lingering in the minds of Giants fans.

“Will Kadarius Toney break out next season?”, PFF tweeted.

Daboll will create plays for him just like he did for Stefon Diggs, Gabriel Davis, and Cole Beasley for the Buffalo Bills.

But will Toney be able to execute and take the step as the team’s primary receiver?

Toney Needs Help To Succeed

Football is an undeniable team sport, so it would be difficult for Toney to succeed by himself.

He needs quarterback Daniel Jones to find him in the open field.

However, he might not have enough time to execute plays if their offensive line remains inconsistent.

Saquon Barkley‘s return to an elite level will also help create one-on-one coverages for Toney.

If those players compete at the highest level, Toney will likely have a 1,000-yard season in 2022.

Still, theory is different from practice and the Giants must deliver.
