The Golden State Warriors, the defending NBA champions, have struggled all throughout this season, and the opportunity for them to get their act together and rediscover their mojo is quickly waning.

With a 37-36 record, they’re in sixth place in the Western Conference, and they have lost six of their last nine games.

One problem for them has been player availability.

Stephen Curry has missed long stretches of action with two different injuries, while star forward Andrew Wiggins has been out for over a month due to a personal issue.

There have been rumors about the exact nature of Wiggins’ personal issue, but teammate Draymond Green says such rumors are “disgusting,” and he seemed to plead for fans and observers to give him his space.

Wiggins has undergone a transformation ever since the Warriors acquired him in a midseason trade three years ago from the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Back then, he was regarded as a low-efficiency scorer who had a very lukewarm interest, at best, in playing defense.

But over the last couple of years, Wiggins has remade himself into a defensive stopper, as well as a very good 3-point shooter.

During the 2021-22 season, he averaged 17.2 points a game while shooting 39.3 percent from 3-point range, and he was voted onto the starting lineup of the NBA All-Star Game while playing a key role in Golden State’s fourth championship in eight seasons.

The team will certainly need him back soon if it is to have any shot at repeating as world champs this summer.
