Using Apple Pay at Publix is simple.

First, you must input your credit card information into your Apple Wallet, an app that comes standard on iPhones, before use.

Anytime you use Apple Pay, it will charge your default card unless you switch it to another card before initiating payment.

When you are ready to pay for your items at Publix, tell the cashier you’ll be using Apple Pay.

The easiest way to pay using Apple Pay is to double-click the side button on your iPhone.

This will use your Face ID to unlock your phone and pull up your default card along with a message that says, “Hold Close To Reader.”

Simply, hold your phone above the card reader and wait for a checkmark icon along with the word “Done” to appear, indicating that your payment was accepted.

If using Touch ID, follow the same directions by double-clicking the button on the side of your phone, but swipe your finger over the Touch ID to unlock.

Then hold your phone above the contactless card reader until you see “Done.”

Move your phone a bit closer to the reader if it’s not picking it up.

You can also use Apple Pay at self-checkout in the same way as a regular check-out station.

Self-checkout pin-pads will not have the contactless payment symbol although it is still accepted.

Orlando, USA - April 29, 2018: Brand name and logo of Publix

Yes, Apple Pay is an extremely safe payment method to use anywhere, including Publix.

Apple goes to great lengths to protect its customers’ personal credit card information.

Besides making it difficult to unlock an iPhone without the help of the owner, Apple does not share your credit card information or identity with the merchant.

Plus, your credit card number is not stored on your device or any Apple server.

So, if your phone is lost or stolen, no one can find your credit card number or complete information.

Even when using Apple Pay in stores, your device will not send your credit card number to the store, and neither will Apple.

If you use Apple Pay for purchases online, the merchant only receives the information you provide to fulfill your order.

For example, you’ll most likely have to authorize the use of your name, address, and other contact information.

The physical state of your credit or debit card has no bearing on whether it’ll be accepted or not.

Publix also does not charge any extra fees for any contactless payment, although they do recommend checking with your bank to make sure that they do not charge any fees for this service.
